The National Plastics Center (NPC) is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving the past, addressing the present and promoting the future of plastics through public education and awareness. The NPC’s mission is to provide sound scientific and educational programs which increase the public’s knowledge of the valuable contributions that plastics make in the quality of our lives. The Center supports this mission, by conducting hands-on science programming for schools, organizations and the plastics community. Founded in 1982, the Center is located in Leominster, Massachusetts -- the birthplace of the plastics industry.

PlastiVan™, the NPC’s internationally acclaimed education program, travels throughout the United States reaching approximately 50,000 students a year with hands-on presentations that inspire a new generation of scientists and innovators. The program teaches students about the chemistry, history, processing methods and environmental issues involved with plastics. PlastiVan™ offers an exciting, fast-paced assembly program for up to 300 elementary and secondary school children.

The Center is also home to the Plastics Hall of Fame. Launched in 1972, this exhibit is devoted to the men and women who led scientific, technical and business advances in the plastics industry.
